Job Purpose
The Sales Analyst plays a strategic role within the sales organization by delivering actionable insights, generating performance reports, and supporting forecasting, planning, and customer analytics. This role integrates external market and customer data with internal operational data to identify trends, address performance gaps, and improve business outcomes.
This position is critical in enabling data-driven decision-making and supporting customer growth through accurate, timely insights. The ideal candidate is analytical, curious, and proactive, with strong organizational skills and the ability to clearly communicate insights to senior leadership while collaborating cross-functionally to improve processes and drive results.
This role provides strong exposure to customer strategy and commercial decision-making and can serve as a development path toward broader commercial or Key Account Management roles for high performers.
Main Responsibilities and Key Tasks
Sales & Business Analytics
- Analyze external retailer and syndicated data to identify market and customer trends and assess their impact on day-to-day business performance
- Integrate external insights with internal sales and operational data to inform decisions, adjust strategies, and drive commercial results
- Collaborate with brokers and key customers to interpret data and identify growth opportunities
- Build dashboards and reports to track trends and KPIs, delivering clear, actionable insights to leadership and account teams
Forecasting & Budgeting
- Develop accurate sales forecasts and budgets using internal systems and operational data, informed by insights from Sales & Business Analytics
- Monitor performance against forecasts and budgets, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions
- Partner with Supply Chain and Finance to align operational and financial plans with business objectives
- Translate external and internal data into strategic recommendations to improve planning and execution
Market & Category Intelligence
- Analyze syndicated and external market data to support category reviews, competitive analysis, and strategic planning
- Perform pricing, promotional, and assortment analysis to identify opportunities and risks across product lines
- Collaborate with Product, Marketing, and R&D teams to support go-to-market strategies and line reviews
- Deliver insights through clear data storytelling and visualizations to inform product innovation and commercial strategy
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Data Analytics, or related field
- 3–6 years of experience in CPG, with a background in sales analytics, commercial analysis, or working directly with or within retail customers
- Proficient in Excel, Tableau, Power BI or similar; strong working knowledge of Scintilla, 10-10 Portal, and other retailer-specific data platforms
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a focus on business impact, not just data
- Intellectual curiosity and proactive mindset; identifies root causes, improves processes, and drives decisions
- Able to integrate external insights with internal data to influence forecasting, budgeting, and operational strategies
- Clear communicator and problem solver, capable of translating data into strategic recommendations for leadership
- Demonstrated interest in business growth and leadership opportunities, with the potential to expand scope and take on increasing responsibility
- Experience with sales forecasting and budgeting; statistical modeling or advanced analytics a plus
- Able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines; travel up to 15% annually
