Inventory Control Supervisor

As we continue being 'Here for you’, we’re looking for a Inventory Control Supervisor to join our Supply Chain, Planning, Logistics team.
 

Job purpose

The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all inventory control activities within a manufacturing and warehouse environment. This role ensures inventory accuracy, maintains efficient inventory processes, supports production operations, and leads a team responsible for cycle counting, inventory transactions, and inventory reconciliation. The supervisor works closely with Production, Purchasing, Shipping, Receiving, and Quality to ensure material availability while minimizing inventory discrepancies and carrying costs.

Job Accountability

  • Supervise and lead inventory control team including scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Support annual and quarterly physical inventory audits, including pre- and post-audit analysis.
  • Develop and implement inventory control procedures and best practices to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies.
  • Coordinate annual physical inventories and support internal and external audits.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of recurring inventory discrepancies and develop sustainable corrective actions.
  • Perform targeted cycle counts, reconciliation, and validation for project-related materials.
  • Partner with IT, Planning, and Operations to improve ERP or WMS system data accuracy.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate material availability for production while reducing excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with FIFO/FEFO, lot traceability and other inventory management requirements as applicable.
  • Analyze data trends to identify improvement opportunities in material flow, put-away, and retrieval accuracy.
  • Coordinate pilot programs and trials for new inventory-related technologies or processes.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for assigned inventory-related projects.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards during all project activities.

 

Job requirements

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in inventory control, logistics, or warehouse operations.
  • Proven experience leading or supporting improvement projects.
  • Familiarity with ERP/WMS systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of inventory principles (FIFO, lot tracking, cycle counting).

 

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or data visualization tools.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
  • Forklift certification or material handling experience a plus

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and move throughout the warehouse for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Exposure to warehouse environments with varying temperatures and noise levels.
